Weeping Women    2025

 Weeping Women examines the emotional toll of the rigid gender roles imposed upon women throughout the mid-twentieth century. Layering female portraitgs with vintage advertisements, the paintings expose the contradiction between the idealized image of the cheerful homemaker and the unseen realities of isolation, objectification, and emotional repression. Outlined breasts become symbols of the reduction of women to their domestic and sexual roles, while tears disrupt the glossy perfection of postwar consumer culture. By reclaiming these nostalgic images, the work challenges the myths of femininity and gives voice to the grief hidden beneath the performance of the "ideal" woman.
